Timed Mock Tests

15 full-length mock papers in the exact official format used by the Home Office: 24 multiple-choice questions, drawn from across all five chapters of the handbook. The pass mark is 18 out of 24 — the same as the real exam — and the target time is 45 minutes.

We recommend taking your first mock test only after you have read the study guide and worked through several chapter practice tests. Then sit two or three mocks per day in the final week before your real exam, ideally at the same time of day you have booked your test centre slot.

How the real exam works

The Life in the UK test is taken on a computer at one of about 30 official test centres around the country. You have 45 minutes to answer 24 multiple-choice questions and you need 18 correct (75%) to pass. There are four formats of question: single-answer, multiple-answer (pick TWO), true/false, and a final "select the correct statement" type. Every mock on this site mixes the four formats in roughly the same proportions as the real exam.

You cannot bring anything into the testing room — no phones, no notes, no water bottles. You will be photographed, your ID will be checked, and you will sit at a numbered terminal with headphones available. Most candidates finish in 20 to 25 minutes. You receive a provisional pass or fail result on screen as soon as you finish, with a printed letter to follow.

Marking your mock at home

To make your mock as realistic as possible, write your answers on a piece of paper as A/B/C/D before scrolling down to check. Each question on this site reveals the correct answer immediately below the options, with a written explanation drawn from the handbook. Anything you got wrong should be flagged for revision in the matching chapter practice tests.
