Britain's Free Museums and Galleries

The British Museum, the National Gallery, the V&A — most national museums are free to visit.

The UK's national museums and galleries are free to enter. The British Museum in Bloomsbury holds collections from across the world; the National Gallery on Trafalgar Square holds the national collection of paintings; the Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A), the Science Museum and the Natural History Museum are clustered together in South Kensington. Tate Modern and Tate Britain on the Thames cover modern and historic British art.

Major regional museums include the National Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh, the Riverside Museum in Glasgow, National Museum Cardiff, the Ulster Museum in Belfast and the Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool. Many local museums are also free, although some special exhibitions and the Tower of London charge an entry fee.
